Once a year, and for a very short time, many limeñes transit an endless asphalt line along the coast. On one side, spaces of arid land and precarious constructions; on the other, luxury housings with swimming pools and exclusive beaches. Along the road, as preludes of the oasis that serves as an escape for a small portion of Lima’s population, we see monumental and attractive billboards that serve as a reminder that this is the dreamed life, that there is a way to be happy but that this doesn’t necessarily mean we can access it. Happiness is a closed and privileged space that becomes more desirable because we don’t know what is inside. For the ones outside, there is no option but to imagine what happens in there: a private show of magic and lights.
